THE DIRECTOR

Keith Williams
As the director of Sylvia, Keith is pleased by the hard work his cast has put forth in making this production.
It is a great pleasure working once again with Tom, Kerry, Gloria, Mallory, Beth and Val. He is fond of saying to them,
“Don’t you people have homes?” And it is a true joy working for the first time with Andrea and Rebecca. All of them have
been very brave dealing with Keith’s “issues” as they like to call them. Keith would also like to thank his wife and kids
for all those nights that he is gone. He adds a special thank you to his sister, Sister Leslie of the Benedictine Nuns of
the Holy Trinity, for spiritual guidance in these troubled times, to Charlie Langley his favorite bartender, and Sandy
Bearden his masseuse.
Director’s Notes
It is amazing the time and effort that goes into putting on a play. Even when you have a small cast with very little props and set, the effort of the people is mind blowing. Sylvia, when I first read it, was to me a funny little play that could be done very simply. Boy was I wrong. Even though I have director in front of my name, I have come to realize that without the cast, the people who handle the stage and props, lighting and sound, or the people in the box office, front of the house or who handle the advertising, all this would be is me standing there looking like a deer in the headlights. So, from all of those people to you, our supporters, sit back and enjoy this funny little adult comedy.
THE CAST
Rebecca DeLorme, Sylvia
Rebecca has an exhausted tail from delight in returning to The Newtowne Players stage, having been seen recently in The Dining Room
(2008 Season’s Best Show and Best Ensemble Cast) playing over 7 characters. With over 15 years of being on stage, Rebecca has played
many characters but never one on four legs! Some of her favorites include “Diana” in Lend Me a Tenor (TNT 2006 Best Ensemble Cast & Show),
“Ruth Condomine” in Blithe Spirit and “Sister Leo” in Nunsense (TNT 2007 Best Ensemble Cast). Rebecca is so excited to be in the same role
that Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw with fur....MORE FUR ha ha!) played on Broadway. She would like to thank her family and friends
for dog sitting, Mark for his excitement over her BEING a dog, Daphne for her prissy Jack Russell ways, and Sabrina the Puggle for showing
her that “It all comes down to poo.” Rebecca would like to dedicate her performance to the Memory of Jersey, the one who started it all!
Thom Esposito, Greg
Born and raised in New York City, Thom came to St. Mary’s county via St. Louis University. Involved in community theatre for some time, Thom came to
TNT in 2007, and has been involved in numerous productions in various capacities. Whether helping to build a set, producing a show, operating the light
board or appearing on stage, Thom is happy to do what he can to help make a show a success. His last appearance on stage was in TNT’s award-winning
production of A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room, which won numerous Three Notch Awards, including “Best Ensemble Cast.” Thom is grateful to director Keith
Williams for casting him in Sylvia, and is thankful for the talent, dedication, and support of the entire cast and crew of this production.
Andrea Hein, Kate
This is Andrea’s second performance with The Newtowne Players. Last summer, she played the role of Muriel Tate in Plaza Suite, which was her first foray
into theater in 12 years. She also recently helped out as the assistant production manager with The Foreigner. Andrea recently earned a B.A. in Cultural
Studies and is contemplating her next move. She would like to thank her husband for maintaining the home front while she rehearsed.
Valarie Green, Phyllis
Valarie is delighted to be making a return to Three Notch Theatre (TNT), especially with such a vibrant, talented group of actors, designers, and technicians!
She has vast experience both on and behind the stage. Her theatre experience began in high school; she then majored in Speech and Dramatic Arts at Central
Michigan University. She later served as an active member and board member of a now 75-year-old community theatre in Michigan. Those training grounds have
given Valarie a respect for every aspect of the theatre, from the glory of performing to the anonymity of silent running crew. She believes strongly in keeping
the Arts alive and available to all in our communities, and is pleased to have the opportunity to serve as a board member for The Newtowne Players (NTP), as
well as volunteering in numerous other capacities at TNT throughout each season. Favorite roles include Babe Magrath in Crimes of the Heart (NTP), Rosemary
in It Runs in the Family (NTP), Delia in Bedroom Farce (NTP), Elvira in Blithe Spirit (Flint Community Players (FCP)), and Annie Sullivan in Monday After the
Miracle (FCP). Much gratitude goes to all the hardworking volunteers at NTP that have made this production an enjoyable success. A very special thank you to
Valarie’s husband and children for their patience and sacrifices while she’s away pursuing her artistic passions!
Kerry Robinson, Tom
Kerry makes his third appearance on stage at TNT in Sylvia, but admits he is more comfortable backstage. Having appeared in summer stock at Historic St. Mary's City
and as an extra in a handful of television movies and documentaries, Kerry also has been seen locally with St. Maries Musica, with whom he spent five years before
helping establish The Newtowne Players. Kerry serves as the production manager for NTP and rotates through many of the backstage roles that help keep the shows going.
He thanks his wife, Nancy, for her near-endless patience and support, and wishes great success to all our cast!
Beth Lavery, Leslie
Beth is pleased to be back with The Newtowne Players and working with Keith, Val, and Mallory. Her first play with Newtowne was Bedroom Farce. Beth would like to thank her
husband D.J. for all his support and help.
